Initial Idea

We decided to do a video based campaign in order to get students aware of fire.

This is my first story board. It will be advertised as a trailer for a new action movie. It portrays a student with his student and work life, he bumps into a kid at uni and laughs at him. The kid then sets his flat on fire. With my character being the head tenant he falls responsible for his flatmates death and swears to avenge by finding the guy who set his house on fire. He goes to a Mexican fire arms dealer and ends up killing him too. Once he finds the person responsible for the fire and holds him to gunpoint, he says why couldn't you just have a fire alarm in the flat...

Concepts

So our group decided to each look at different types of fires. Mine was electrical fires so I just grasped a basic understanding of how electricity can cause fires etc.

I saw a relationship with alcohol and fires. People who were over the legal driving limit of alcohol were likely to cause a fire.

I am aware that the smoke of a fire can kill you, not the actual fire itself. Carbon monoxide is produced in the smoke, when your blood contains more than 50% of carbon monoxide levels, it is considered life threatening.

I wanted to pin point what actually causes fires. The top answer was, unattended cooking. However the place where most fires are caused is in the bedroom. This is because other factors such as an unattended candle, or electric blanket, or a child with fire, which would make up the high percentage of bedroom fires.

I thought there would be a relationship between what days and what times there would be fires. The most fires are caused on Sundays, and 72% of fire calls are made at night, between 7pm and 7am

Research

Just researching the lower socioeconomic groups and fire. The most fires are caused in the socio groups of the deprivation index decile of 6 or higher. However there are some other groups that have other deprivations such as physical modility.
